1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
Personal information you disclose to us
We collect personal information that you provide to us.
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on the Services, express an interest in obtaining information about us or our products and Services, when you participate in activities on the Services, or otherwise when you contact us.
Personal Information Provided by You. The personal information we collect may include:
- Names
- Email addresses
- Usernames
- Contact or authentication data
Sensitive Information. We do not process sensitive information.
Social Media Login Data. We may provide you with the option to register using your existing Google account. If you choose to register this way, we will collect certain profile information about you from Google, as described in Section 6 below.
Google API
Our use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Information collected by the iOS app
When you use ByteAI on iOS, we may additionally process the following:
- Photos. If you choose to set or change your profile picture, you grant the app access to your Photos library so you can pick an image. The selected image is uploaded to our servers and stored as your avatar. We do not access any other photo, and we do not scan, index, or analyze your photo library.
- Push notification token. If you opt in to push notifications, Apple issues a device token that we store on our servers and use to send notifications (new replies, mentions, messages, moderation outcomes). The token identifies your device, not you personally; we associate it with your account so we can route notifications to the right device.
- Biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID).If you enable the biometric lock for the app, the authentication is performed entirely on-device by Apple’s Secure Enclave. Your face or fingerprint data never leaves your device and we never see, receive, or store it. We only receive a success/failure signal from iOS so we can unlock the app session.
- Diagnostic data. If the app encounters an error, it sends a non-identifying diagnostic record (error type, app version, OS version, screen name) to our backend so we can fix bugs. We do not collect crash dumps with personal data, and no third-party analytics or attribution SDKs are integrated.
ByteAI does not perform cross-app or cross-website tracking and does not request App Tracking Transparency authorization. We do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
Third-party SDKs in the iOS app
The iOS app integrates the following third-party libraries to deliver core functionality. None of them are used for advertising or cross-app tracking:
- Supabase— authentication, database access, file storage, and real-time updates. Subject to Supabase’s privacy policy.
- Google Sign-In— OAuth authentication when you choose “Sign in with Google.” Subject to Google’s privacy policy.
- Kingfisher— on-device image cache for avatars and post images. Does not send data to any third party.
- SignalR Client— the WebSocket transport for real-time chat. Talks only to our own backend.
- PhoneNumberKit— on-device phone number formatting and validation. Does not send data anywhere.
